Hyderabad, Jan 24 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Ministers belonging to the Backward Class today refuted Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President N Chandrababau Naidu's allegations against the State Government at its Backward Classes Garjana (BC Conference) held at Warangal.
Accompanied by State Backward Classes Welfare Minister M Mukesh Goud and Major Irrigation Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah, State Agriculture Minister N Raghuveera Reddy said Mr Naidu had used the occasion yesterday to lure the BCs who left the TDP due to 'anti-BC' policies adopted during his nine-year rule in the State.
Terming the TDP meet as 'politically motivated,' he alleged Mr Naidu, who never thought about the welfare of the BCs, had suddenly changed his mindset shedding crocodile tears with an eye on the forthcoming elections.
He alleged Mr Naidu had himself admitted in the meeting that the TDP had organised conference for BCs for the first time. This clearly indicated how much affection Mr Naidu had for them.
The BCs of the BC-dominated districts of Srikakulam,Viziangaram and Visakhapatnam had totally left the TDP as they had suffered a lot during the TDP Regime. He alleged the party was making false promises to bring the BCs under their fold which would be very difficult as all the BCs in the state were satisfied with the developmental schemes initiated by the State Government during the last three years.
The Minister alleged the TDP used the BCs for their vote bank before elections and left them without any developmental schemes after the elections.
Refuting the TDP President's charge the Congress Government had not given ministership for the BCs in the Union Cabinet, he said it had given several posts for the BCs in the Central Government.
He said Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy had given important portfolios in his Cabinet to BCs only.
