Sudden gun shots create panic in administrative building
Basirhat, Jan 23 (UNI) Sudden gun fire, during peak office hours at the Sub-Divisional Administrative building here in North 24 Parganas, caused panic and disrupted regular functioning of the sub-divisional headquarters here today.
However, police said there had been no casualties as the bullets hit the wall.
While the owner of the gun Dilip Sarkar, a Dhuturdah resident under Minakha police station in the district, was taken into custody by the police for mishandling the weapon, his gun has also been confiscated.
Mr Sarkar had brought the gun for annual renewal and was returning with it, when the incident occurred.

The license of the gun was duly renewed after formal checking of the weapon by the concerned department, but the gun remained loaded.
It is a safety norm to remove the bullets while carrying a weapon, the police added.
