Sonia enjoyed no holiday in five years : Rahul
New Delhi, Jan 23 (UNI) Congress president Sonia Gandhi, who remained in a hospital for nearly ten days this month following a respiratory problem, had not enjoyed any holiday in the past five years, according to her son Rahul Gandhi.
Having failed in his effort to make her take a break from her hectic schedule during the past five years, Mr Gandhi, who is also AICC General Secretary, asked the media to persuade his mother to go on a holiday.
"I and my sister Priyanka have been persuading her (Ms Gandhi) to take a break, but to no avail," he said, when the mediapersons queried about her health.
"If my mother makes up her mind on something, she will do it," Mr Gandhi said at the residence of AICC General Secretary Veerappa Moily during a lunch hosted by him for the mediapersons, while adding that "one thing that we learnt is that persistence does not work with her." In this context, she appealed to the media to persuade her to take a break from her work for some time.
Ms Gandhi was admitted to the Sir Ganga Ram hospital on the new year day after she complained of breathlessness due to complications arising out of asthma.
