Congress has staged a protest rally against the incident and accused the ruling CPI(M) for the crime, while threatened to move Election Commission of India (ECI) against the terror tactics of the political rival.
Police said Congress had also registered complaint and demanded immediate action against the accused persons. Police has launched investigation into the complaint.
Congress leaders here today said that ruling left front supporters had been trying to generate tension in the area since the position of the left party was not favourable.
"The Left have already understood their fate in the election and as a result they are trying to generate tension among the voters to keep them away," said senior Congress leader Tapas De.
Meanwhile, left front denied the allegation and condemned the incident.
Party leader in the area and Chairperson in Agartala Municipal Council Samar Chakraborty said that left supporters were not involved in the incident and demanded inquiry into the incident.
