Muslim bodies meet on Rushdie issue
Mumbai, Jan 23 (UNI) Representatives from various Muslim bodies held a meeting here today ahead of controversial author Salman Rushdie's proposed visit to the city.
The All India Muslim Council has already given a boycott call of the Godrej Group products since the business house hosted Rushdie.
A group of Muslims had written a letter to Mr Adi Godrej on January 15 saying that ''by inviting the author, who is known for his blasphemous writings, the industrial house had hurt the sentiments of the community''.
''We had urged him to apologise for this betrayal, but unfortunately, we have not heard any thing from him till today,'' a member said. ''And the worst, he is claiming in the media that the issue has been resolved, which is not true,'' he said.
