Bangalore, Jan 23 (UNI) Hosts Karnataka lifted the seventh All India BSNL Football title, defeating defending champions West Bengal 2-0 in the finals played here today.
Karnataka, which dominated right from the beginning, never allowed the defending champions to settle and thus avenged the defeat it suffered last year in the finals.
Star striker Kadiravan opened the account in the 28th minute and defender Md Nazim Bepari increased the lead in the 48th minute.
In the other match to decide the third place, Punjab defeated Kerala in the tiebreaker 2-0, with Trilok Singh and Sunil Yadav netting the ball.
Former Olympians Ahmed Khan, Varadaraj and player of international fame Arumainayagam were felicitated at the prize distribution ceremony.
