Freshers
of
National
Institute
of
Technology
(NIT),
Agartala,
raised
their
voice
against
ragging
in
the
institution
and
alleged
that
a
student
left
the
college
because
of
it.
According to the allegations, the seniors of the college have physically and mentally tortured the juniors since past few months and the matter was brought to the notice of NIT authority several times but nothing had changed.
''One Md Osman Amudi of Aurangabad was severely beaten up by two of his seniors in the hostel on January 21 night and earlier another student from Kashmir was physically assaulted and shifted to hospital,'' students of BE first year alleged.
Reportedly, Amudi had been tortured by the seniors since past three months and recently it was increased, which the victim informed to his parents.
Amudi's father Abdul Rahaman has arrived Agartala with the information of physical atrocities on his son on Sunday and met NIT Director and other officials of the institution and on the same night Amudi was again manhandled by his seniors in the hostel, Abdul alleged.
Meanwhile, NIT Director Subhas Saha denied the allegations and said the authority was not informed about such incident.
