BSF seizes pirated DVDs worth lakhs
Bangaon, Jan 23 (UNI) The BSF has seized a truck carrying large quantity of smuggled DVDs and electronic goods near the Indo-Bangladesh border, BSF officials said here today.
The BSF seized the empty truck, returning from that country after unloading rice at Benapole on January 17, from Petrapole in North 24 Paraganas yesterday.
At least 2100 pirated DVDs of recently released Indian and Bangladeshi movies along with a large number of I-pods were seized, the security forces said.
The BSF informed that the smuggled goods, worth a few lakhs, were found hidden in the driver's cabin.
However, the truck driver, a resident of Bangaon, said he was unaware of the entire episode and stated that the helper of the truck present at place while unloading rice.
The apprehended driver was yet to be handed over to police, the BSF said adding that there was a huge racket of smugglers operating in the area.
