Kohima, Jan 22 (UNI) The security forces in Nagaland have already been put on high alert to prevent any untoward incidents during the Republic Day celebrations in the state.
Official sources said here today that despite there being no internal rebel boycott call in the state, the security forces were keeping strict vigil at all the border check gates along with the neighbouring states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Manipur.
There was also a possibility of ULFA cadres sneaking into Nagaland and sheltering in Dimapur, the sources added.
Meanwhile,the Nagaland government was making all-out preparations to celebrate the day and the main function will be held at the Secretariat Plaza here on January 26.
The sources said that vying for the ''Governor's Trophy for Excellence'', altogether 15 government departments will participate in the Tableau Presentation at the Secretariat Plaza.
An official meeting was held recently at Kohima to chalk out the arrangements for the celebration of the day in the state capital.
Besides, the programme will include the Ceremonial Parade by about 17 contingents from the Armed Forces, NCC, Bharat Scouts and Guides, schools and colleges, for which rehearsals were in full swing. Presentation of cultural items with traditional dances will also be part of the celebrations.
The district headquarters and sub-divisional headquarters were also preparing to celebrate the day at their respective areas, the sources added.
