Protect domestic retail investors: BJP tells FM
Tiruchirapalli, Jan 22 (UNI) BJP's Tamil Nadu unit Vice-President H Raja today alleged that Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram was responsible for the present crisis in the country's retail sector.
Addressing a demonstration by the Tiruchirapalli district unit of the BJYM, he alleged that instead of protecting the interest of the domestic retail investors, the Union Finance Ministry was supporting foreign direct investors and foreign institutional investors in the country.
He alleged that the Centre was not taking steps to control price hike and inflation.
By encouraging foreign investments in food sector, the country's food security has come under threat, he charged.
When A B Vajpayee was the Prime Minister, the country had exported Rs 6,000 crore worth food grains, he said alleging that the present Congress led UPA Government at the Centre was importing 50 lakh tonnes of wheat per month.
