Metals down on lack of fresh demand
Mumbai, Jan 22 (UNI) Both the metal categories, ferrous and non-ferrous, declined today on lack of fresh demand in Delhi and Kolkata, traders at the Bombay Metal Exchange (BME) said.
Copper utensils slashed by Rs 300 per quintal while copper heavy, brass utensils and brass cuttings moved down by Rs 200 per quintal each, due to sustained heavy selling pressure.
However, aluminium utensils remained unchanged on moderate demand.
In the non-ferrous metal category, copper wire bar edged down by Rs 200 and zinc slab fell by Rs 100 per quintal because of poor buying support.
Nickel cathode was also down by Rs 5 per kg.
Following are the spot metal prices per quintal: Ferrous metals: copper heavy - Rs 33,400, copper utensils - Rs 31,200, brass utensils - Rs 24,700, brass cuttings - Rs 25,300 and aluminium utensils - Rs 10,500 per kg.
Non-ferrous metals: copper wire bars - Rs 36,600, aluminium ingots - Rs 12,100, zinc slab - Rs 12,400, lead ingots - Rs 11,500, tin slab - Rs 780 and nickel cathode - Rs 1,375 per kg.
