K'taka R-day tableaux to showcase Chennakeshava temple
New Delhi, Jan 22 (UNI) Karnataka would be showcasing the famous carvings of Chennakeshava temple in Belur, a monument of Hoysala dynasty, for the January 26 Republic Day Tableaux.
The replica of the Hoysala king Vishnuvardhana, regarded as 'nector in stone' by the architectural admirers, is certain to attract the attention of the people attending the Republic Day Parade, Karnataka Information and Publicity Commissioner K V R Tagore told newspersons here.
The fibre glass replica, prepared by a 53-member team headed by Shashidhar Adapa, has used 1.5 tonnes of steel and closely resembles the original carvings made out of close grained soft stone. The structure is designed and developed by Mr Prakash. The budget earmarked for the Tableaux is Rs 25 lakh.
A 15-member troupe comprising nadaswara artists from Bangalore, Kolar and Bangalore Urban districts led by Vidwan Ramesh of Bethamangala will provide live music as the tableaux moves in the parade.
