Chandigarh, Jan 22 (UNI) The Haryana tableau at 59th Republic Day Parade at New Delhi will depict the role and participation of Haryana in the First War of Independence of 1857.
This will be a tribute to the people of the state who participated in the freedom struggle.
While stating this here today, an official spokesman said that the sacrifices made by the people of Haryana in the First War of Independence were in consonance with their courage, bravery and spirit of heroism. The tableau will depict the feeling of patriotism and sacrifices of the people of Haryana.
He said the front section of tableau would depict the scene of Rohnat village near Hansi of Hisar district which was completely destroyed by the British. The scene would also be reminiscent of the tragic and sad episode of Rohnat wherein hundreds of people jumped into the village well and lost their lives. The well still reminds the great sacrifice of the people of Rohnat village.
He said at the rear portion of the tableau, the revolutionaries are shown being killed by the British Army in the First War of Independence. The statues of four brave warriors of Haryana namely Raja Nahar Singh, Rao Tula Ram, Nawab Abdul Rehman and Lala Hukam Chand Jain have been erected in this section.
The spokesman said the Government had decided to observe the 150th year of First War of Independence in a befitting manner for which a number of schemes had been launched.
