New Delhi, Jan 22 (UNI) The Delhi Police have busted an interstate gun running racket in the city with the arrest of two persons with a large cache of sophisticated arms.
Raj Pratap Saxena and Ajay Raj were arrested from near Hazrat Nizamuddin in South Delhi and Rampur in UP respectively after the Delhi Police crime branch received information of smuggling of arms to Delhi and Haryana from various locations in UP.
Several high quality revolvers and live cartridges were seized from the two.
Both the accused were arrested under the Arms Act and produced in Patiala House court which sent them in two-day police remand.
On interrogation, Ajay Raj revealed that the illegal fire arms were manufactured in Rampur, Muradabad and Haldwani in UP.
In another incident, the police arrested a dreaded interstate gangster Mainpal and his three associates, wanted in sensational murder cases in Bahadurgarh in Haryana.
Mainpal and his associates Vikram, Pravin and Rajesh were arrested by the special operation squad of the Delhi police from the Nazafgarh road last evening.
One US-made carbine, three prohibited .38 bore foreign made revolvers, one 12 bore double barrel gun and 25 live cartridges.
They were arrested during a drive by the Delhi Police to target interstate and desperate criminals operating in and around Delhi.
