Pune, Jan 22 (UNI) Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President Suresh Kalmadi today said the collections from sponsors for the 2010 Commonwealth Games, to be held at New Delhi, have crossed all expectations.
Talking to reporters here after a review of the preparations for the Commonwealth Youth Games (CYG), Mr Kalmadi said this is perhaps the first time that funds have been collected in excess of the original estimates.
''Our economy is doing well and most sponsors are willing to give as much and even more than we expect,'' he said.
Mr Kalmadi informed that the games held earlier in Edinburgh, England and Australia were unable to raise as much funds.
