Cold wave intensified, mercury five degrees below normal
New Delhi, Jan 22 (UNI) The cold wave sweeping Delhi over the last few days intensified today with the mercury dropping to five degrees below normal.
Cold Northwesterly winds, blowing through Delhi for the third consecutive day, led to the minimum temperature dropping to five degrees below normal at 2.6 degree celsius.
The maximum also plummeted to 15.8 degrees five degrees below normal.
Visibility levels, however, remained normal here.
The cold wave conditions in the city lilely to persist in the next couple of days with the weatherman forecasting a minimum temperature of 3 degrees tomorrow.
The Met office has forecast a partly cloudy sky in the capital during the next 24 hours with the likelihood of mist or shallow fog in the morning hours.
After an unusually warm weather last week, the mercury plummeted to 6.4 degrees C on Sunday, from 14 degrees the previous day.
