Unani doctors to agitate against AP govt's 'injustice'
Hyderabad, Jan 21 (UNI) Unani doctors in Andhra Pradesh today threatened to go on a strike if the state government failed to take steps within three weeks, the ''injustice'' meted out to the Unani stream in allocation of Public Health Centres (PHCs) for implementation of the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM).
Addressing a press conference here, Joint Action Committee of Unani System convener M R H Shakeeb said the government was showing ''undue'' importance to Ayurveda stream by allocating 50 per cent of the 439 PHCs under the scheme for creating ''Ayush'' facilities under the NRHM.
As the Unani system was earmarked only 10 per cent of the 439 PHCs, Unani practitioners have no other option but to agitate if the ''injustice'' was not undone, he said.
