Hyderabad, Jan 21 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) B Prasada Rao today assumed charge as the 43rd city police Commissioner.
Mr Rao took over from Mr Balwinder Singh, who was proceeding on a long leave from today, at the Commissioner's office.
Speaking to newspersons here, the new Commissioner said he would accord priority to maintain law and order and check terrorist activities in the city. Strategy would be prepared to check the increasing cases of kidnap and terrorist activities, he added.
A 1979 batch IPS officer, Mr Rao had served as the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Nalgonda, Nizamabad and Karimnagar districts. He had also served as DIG of Eluru and Kurnool ranges and Commissioner of Visakhapatnam from 2002 to 2004.
