Lillee's secret advice helped India's rookie attack at Perth

By Staff

Melbourne, Jan.21 : A secret meeting with Australian pace great Dennis Lillee helped India's rookie fast bowlers to register a stunning win at the WACA on Saturday.

Lillee turned informant at the bequest of Indian bowling coach Venkatesh Prasad and provided intelligence on the mysterious Perth winds which fooled Australia.

As the Fremantle Doctor blew, India's unheralded pace attack got the ball to swing madly while Australia's quicks floundered and could not decide what end each should have been bowling from.

Prasad last night revealed that Lillee, the man some consider to be Australia's greatest fast bowler, had provided crucial information.

"He told me about the winds and how to use them," Prasad said.

"I worked under Dennis (at the MRF Pace Foundation in India) and he is a very, very good friend of mine.

"Dennis told me about the winds, but our pace bowlers had to go out there and do the job,"The Daily Telegraph quoted Prasad, as saying.
