Kalam's way of winning Nobel Prize!

Madurai, Jan 21: Focus on research in solar energy to improve the capacity of photovoltaic cells and studies on electromagnetic phenomenon to forecast earthquake had good chances of winning the Nobel Prize, Former President A P J Abdul Kalam has said.

In his address during the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Thiagarajar College of Engineering last evening, he said ''if we focus on solar voltaic cells and tap more solar energy, there is a good possibility of winning a Nobel Prize.'' ''Countries like India, which faces frequent earthquakes, should evolve a forecasting mechanism through research in atmospheric anomalies,'' he added.

Mr Kalam also suggested seven potential research fields for engineering students, which included solar studies, nuclear energy, study of proteins/genomics, vaccine for HIV/AIDS prevention, stem cell research, earthquake prediction and global monsoon research.
