Hundreds of ruling BJD-BJP activists join NCP in Orissa

Bhubaneswar, Jan 21 (UNI) Hundreds of party activists of the ruling BJD-BJP and the Opposition Congress joined the Orissa unit of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) at a function here today.

A party release here said the activists, fed up with the corruption in the BJD, narrow politics of the BJP and the infighting in the Congress party, decided to join the NCP.

The activists, who joined the NCP, included former MLAs, Zilla Parishad members, Sarpanches, Samiti members and women leaders from Deogarha, Daspalla, Kendrapara, Rajnagar, Rajkania and Aul areas.

Prominent among the activists, who joined the party, were former Congress MLA of Aul Dolgobinda Naik, former Congress MLA Aswini Behera from Deogarh and Daspalla BJD Zilla Parishad member Manas Ranjan Das.

NCP Orissa Steering Committee Chairman Bijay Mohapatra, NCP MLAs Arun Dey and Utkal Keshari Parida, senior leaders like Ashok Das, Amar Satpathy and Aanadi Sahu were present at the function.
