Mumbai, Jan 21 (UNI) The Bombay High Court has passed an interim order, staying the Kavi Pardeep Shikhar Samman, which was to be given to ace music director Laxmikant of the famous Laxmikant- Pyarelal duo in Ujjain on February 6.
The stay comes in the wake of a petition filed by the late Kavi Pardeep's daughter Mitul Ramachandra Pardeep, challenging holding the function in which the award was to be conferred on the ace director, on the grounds that it was an infringement of the Copyrights Act.
Justice D Y Chandrachud, in his interim order, passed last week, held that ''the daughters of late Sri Kavi Pradeep, being the only legal heirs, have got the right to protect the goodwill, reputation and copyright of their father and no person without any consent or authority shall have any right to use it.'' Late Kavi Pardeep was a renowned and well-known lyricist and a recipient of Dadasaheb Phalke Award and Sant Gyaneshwar Award.
He shot into prominence by penning the emotional and patriotic song, 'Ae Mere Watan ke Logon'.
