CBI to examine Mumbai court judgement on Bilkis Bano

New Delhi, Jan 21 (UNI) The CBI today said it will examine the judgement of the Mumbai special court in the Bilkis Bano rape case and then decide the future course of action.

The Special CBI Court in Mumbai today sentenced to life imprisonment eleven convicts -- Jaswant Nai, Govind Nai, Shailesh Bhatt, Radheysham Shah, Bipinchandra Joshi, Kesharbhai Vohania, Bakabhai Vohania, Pradeeep Moradia, Raju Soni, Mitesh Bhatt and Ramesh Chandana -- and four-year jail to assistant sub-inspector Somabhai Gori.

The CBI had taken up the investigation into the rape of Bilkis Bano, killing of her daughter and 13 other relatives on March 3, 2002, under the orders of the Supreme Court on December 18, 2003.

''The CBI will examine the judgement thoroughly and decide the further course of action,'' said a statement by the investigating agency.
