Call money closes low at 6.05 pc

Mumbai, Jan 21 (UNI) Inter-bank call money rates today ended low at 6.05 per cent compared to the previous close of 6.15 per cent on sustained heavy liquidity in view of the major crash in the BSE's Sensex, dealers said.

During the intra-day trading, the rate touched a high of 7.50 per cent and a low of 6.50 per cent and showed wide fluctuation.

Dealers said there were sufficient funds with operators, but they were squaring up their outstanding position. Many operators had opted to invest in other leading forthcoming IPOs.

The call money rates are expected to fall further in the near future, dealers added.
