BSNL workers observe protest against disinvestment
New Delhi, Jan 21 (UNI) Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) workers across the country today observed a one-day protest against the move for disinvestment and warned of an indefinite strike next month if the telecom company proceeds with its IPO.
''Observance of the protest day was the first phase of trade union action in support of the strike,'' BSNL union leaders said here.
Wearing black badges, BSNL workers and officers organised demonstration in front of company offices and exchanges in Kolkata, Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Guwahati and other cities, they added.
The union had already decided to go on an indefinite strike from February 26 against disinvestment and other demands including grant of Navaratna Status, absorption of ITS officers, ensuring financial viability.
