New Delhi, Jan 20 (UNI) British Prime Minister Gordon Brown today called for greater cooperation between the security agencies of India and UK to fight terrorism and proposed introduction at airoports in either country sophisticated detection system as part of the exercise.

Mr Brown who arrived here this afternoon on a two-day visit, his first as Prime Minister, to participate in the Fourth India-UK Summit, said he would like to see greater contact between the two countries against extremist ideologies.

''I would like to see greater contact between the two countries in winning the battle of hearts and minds, isolating extremist ideologues that try to poison young people and the views that they have,'' he told reporters here.

He said he would also like to see greater co-operation between the security agencies of the two countries.

''I believe that we can introduce at your airports and our airports even more sophisticated detection systems that will enable us to prevent people who are carrying weapons or explosive materials from moving between countries.'' He called for intensifying cooperation in all areas and countries--in Asia and Europe as well as in the US--on security against terrorism and said he would discuss these issues with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
