Badal sanctions Rs 5 lakh for treatment of Punjabi author
Chandigarh, Jan 21 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today sanctioned a grant of Rs five lakh for the treatment of Punjab's ailing writer Ajmer Singh Aulakh.
Mr Aulakh is suffering from cancer and presently undergoing treatment in Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute in Delhi.
Mr Badal wished him a speedy recovery and stated that further assistance, if required, would also be provided by the state Government.
In another significant decision, the Chief Minister also doubled the monthly pension allowance of Ms Gurcharan Kaur, daughter of Punjab's famous freedom fighter Late Sardar Sewa Singh Thikriwala, from Rs 2500 to Rs 5000 per month.
