Vodafone surpasses BSNL in Rajasthan
Jaipur, Jan 20 (UNI) Vodafone, after surpassing BSNL in mobile telephony subscriber base in Rajasthan, has now set a target to exceed front runner AirTel to invade top slot in the state.
Speaking to UNI, Vodafone Essar DigiLink Limited Chief Operating Officer (Rajasthan) Jitendra Rahi said that his company had achieved allround growth during past about one year to move up to number two position from number four and in the process pushed BSNL to poor third slot.
''Vodaphone had crossed the landmark of 25 lakh mobile subscribers(25.54 lakh) in Rajasthan, strengthened its revenue turnover(over Rs 700 crore) and expanded area of coverage too,'' Mr Rahi said.
Only AirTel, with a subscriber base of around 33 lakh, is the only player to be chased by his company in its run for the top slot.
He said that Vodafone had made remarkable growth in rural areas and was committed to strengthen further its coverage area to capture major share among 80 per cent of uncovered population of the state.
