Mumbai, Jan 19: Both the precious metals today surged ahead on bullish advice, with the white metal rising by Rs 295 per kg and yellow metal by Rs 110 per ten gm from their last close, traders at the Bombay Bullion Association (BBA) said. Silver fineness (.999) purity opened high at Rs 20,700 per kg on improved demand. Later, it eased slightly and closed at Rs 20,685 per kg with a huge gain of Rs 295 per kg as compared to its last close. Standard gold (99.5 purity) and pure gold (99.9) opened high at Rs 11,250 and Rs 11,305 per ten gm respectively on lesser stock supply, traders said.
Later, the yellow metal further improved and closed at Rs 11,255 and Rs 11,305, with a gain of Rs 110 for both standard gold and pure gold from their previous close.
