Rs 1290 cr 924 road projects under execution in Kahmir Valley

Srinagar, Jan 20 (UNI) About 43 per cent road projects out of total 924 taken up under different sectors in the Kashmir valley at a cost of Rs 1290 crores were completed before the end of December last year.

The much delayed Bemina bridge, being constructed at a cost of Rs 10 crores would be thrown open to traffic by the end of this month, this assusrance was given to Minister for Roads and Buildings Jugal Kishore by senior officers, an official spokesman said.

He said the Minister was informed that Rs 7 crore had been spent on the project till December last.

An amount of Rs 377 crore had been utilised on these projects taken up under State and district sectors, Prime Minister's Package and Central Road Fund.

The Minister was also apprised about the widening and upgradation of Narbal-Tangmarg road and Khanabal-Pahalgam road which is in progress at a cost of Rs 226 crore. So far Rs 88 crore stand incurred on these projects.

Under NABARD funding 585 road projects were taken up at a cost of Rs 743 crore, of which 211 schemes had been completed while work is in progress on other projects.

Later, the Minister inspected the under construction Rs 22 crore Assembly complex.

''work is going on round the clock on the complex and so far Rs 12 crore have been incurred, officials told the Minister.
