KU, PU, GNDU bag one gold each

Chandigarh, Jan 20 (UNI) Kurukshetra University, hosts Panjab University and Guru Nanak Dev University of Amritsar bagged one gold each on the opening day of the All-India Inter-University Judo Championship for men being held at the Panjab University Campus here today.

Vikender Singh gave Kurukshetra University their first gold medal as he defeated Sahil Pathania of GND Varsity in the 81 kg final bout.

Gurjit Singh of GND Varsity beat Samer of Maharishi Dayanand University of Rohtak in the 100 kg final. For hosts Anil Joura emerged winner in the 90 kg final bout.

Results: 81 kg: 1 Vikender Singh (Kurukshetra University), 2 Sahil Pathania (Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar), 3 Manish Kumar (Panjab University, Chd), and Chaudhari Prabhakar (North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon).

100 kg: 1 Gurjit Singh (Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar), 2 Samer (MDU Rohtak), 3 Chetan (Kurukshetra University) and Yadav Deepak (Mumbai University, Mumbai).

90 kg: 1 Anil Joura (Panjab University, Chandigarh), 2 Surajveer (Punjabi University, Patiala), 3 Anil Kumar (MDU Rohtak) and Nav Chetan (Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar).
