Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, Jan 20 (UNI) The Kakinada Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Management today announced revised relief package to affected villagers for ensuring smooth implementation of the entire project which is taking shape in the East Godavari District, official sources said.
As against 10,000 acre proposed for the SEZ, the management had already purchased 7,800 acre through direct negotiations, they claimed.
Since there was a lot of discontentment among affected villagers on the relief package announced by the government, the SEZ management had came forward to satisfy them by enhancing the quantum of assistance.
As per the government order (GO), a 150 sq mt house site should be provided to the displaced, but the management had now offered 180 sq yard site.
The financial assistance of Rs 40,000 for construction of houses to below poverty line families had also been increased to Rs two lakh, a five-fold hike.
For transportation of belongings, the financial assistance had been increased from Rs 5,000 to Rs 7,500 and for cattle shed construction, assistance was hiked from Rs 3,000 to Rs 4,500.
The SEZ management had also offered one job to each displaced family. It was also expediting construction of rehabilitation housing township on a sprawling area of 100 acre in Uppada Kothapalli Mandal.
The entire township, with necessary infrastructure such as power supply, water supply, drainage, play grounds, community halls, school, hospital, temple, market and burial ground, would be developed at a cost of Rs 500 crore, they said.
