2 held, 4 kg opium seized
Chennai, Jan 20 (UNI) Officials of Narcotics Intelligence Bureau (NIB) today arrested two people, including an ex-serviceman at Nagpattinam and seized four kg of opium worth Rs one crore.
An official release said here the opium was sourced from Rajasthan and brought to Nagapattinam for sale.
Ex-serviceman Muthukumar (40) of Salem and Selvaraj (40) of Erode, were remanded in judicial custody by a local court.
This is the third such seizure in the last 10 days after the NIB sleuths seized Rs 40 lakh worth of heroin in Coimbatore on January 10 and arrested a person. The contraband was brought from Mumbai.
In follow up actions, the officials arrested a woman in Chennai on January 15 and seized Rs 50 lakh worth of heroin.
