Puducherry, Jan 19 (UNI) As per the Centre's guidelines, the Puducherry administration is taking all precautionary measures to prevent the spread of bird flu in the Union Territory, following reports of outbreak of the disease in some parts of West Bengal.
Puducherry Animal Husbandry and Agriculture Minister V Vaithilingam today said though no cases of bird flu had been reported in the Union Territory so far, a meeting was held under the Animal Husbandry Department Director yesterday and it was decided to intesify the preventive measures.
Even before the bird flu was noticed in West Bengal, the Puducherry administration had taken the preventive measures and blood samples were sent to Bangalore. The result was negative, he said in a statement and added that the people should not panic.
