Keep news away from views: PCI to Media
Faizabad,
Jan
19:
Press
Council
of
India
(PCI)
chairperson
Justice
G
N
Ray
today
warned
the
media
against
the
forthcoming
trouble
if
news
was
not
kept
from
views
and
said
in
the
world
of
globalisation,
people
with
vested
interests
had
''handgripped'
media's
control.
''Electronic media, which should alert people about morality by being a controlling organisation, has become uncontrollable,'' Mr Ray said at the golden jubilee celebrations of a news daily here.
He said the media must hold the whip in delivering sensitive news...for maintaining its credibility. ''News should be kept away from views,'' he asserted.
Mr Ray said although, the PCI was not a sentence awarding organisation, the media should highlight its judgments made in several cases of dispute.
