Bhopal, Jan 19 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh CPI(M) today described sudden inspections and raids being carried out by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan as ''political drama''.
According to a statement issued by state CPI(M) secretary Badal Saroj, Mr Chouhan was carrying out sudden inspections and raids as he was afraid following recent bypoll defeats due to dissatisfaction among people.
However, the CPI(MP) believed it a futile exercise, as it would not resolve people's problems.
He alleged that farmers were in a pathetic condition due to dearth of irrigation facilities and power. Madhya Pradesh had become one of the five states where suicide by peasants had been on the rise in the past decade.
The 'ration' system had collapsed due to the inefficiency of the state government. Such reasons have led to India coming behind in the World Food Index from countries like Pakistan, Burma and Sri Lanka.
The CPI(M) is staging 'ghera dalo' campaign in the district and tahsil headquarters in support of their 17-point demand. The campaign would continue up to February 15.
