Badal accuses Capt of misleading Centre on farmer's suicide
Patiala Jan 19 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minster Parkash Singh Badal today alleged that his predecessor Capt Amarinder Singh, during his tenure, had given false information to the Centre that no farmer in Punjab had committed suicide under financial crunch.
Talking to newspersons at Nabha near here after a social function, Mr Badal said that Capt Singh, who ''claims to be pro-farmer, had betrayed the farmer community of Punjab by sending a false report to the Centre which had asked for a report regarding suicidal cases of farmers''.
He claimed that the negligence of Capt Singh had deprived Punjab of special economic package from the Centre for the cash-strapped farmers of the state.
However, the SAD-BJP government was trying its best to press the Centre to announce some special economic package for the beleagured farmers of the state, Mr Badal stressed.
