Witness shot dead in Uttar Pradesh

Shahjahanpur, Jan 18: Armed men shot dead a prime witness in an attempt to murder case in Roza area here. Khushi Ram (40) a resident of village Saraiyya was on way to fields with his son late last night yesterday, when he was fired upon indiscriminately by three people Naresh, Kamlesh and Asharam.

The victim succumbed on the spot, while his son had a narrow escape. Meanwhile, police arrested the killers this morning and sent them to jail. According to police today, Ram was a prime witness in attempt to murder on Santram in 1996. Later, the court had awarded 7 yrs rigorous imprisonment to accused Naresh, Rajendra and Suresh.

The trio had finished their jail terms last week.
