Vodafone Sirmur Cup Polo in Jaipur from Jan 22

Jaipur, Jan 18 (UNI) Several star players, including Udai-Angad Kalaan brothers, Argentine player Gaston Urturi, Basheer-Hamza Ali brothers, will be seen in action in the Vodafone Sirmur Cup Polo Tournament scheduled to be played at the Rambagh Polo Grounds here between January 22 and 27.

Talking to UNI tournament organisers Vodafone spokesman Jitendra Rahi said that four teams studded with star players would clash in the six day prestigious tourney which carries a total cash prize of Rs.25 lakh.

Among the participating players, Indian polo team captain Angad Kalaan, former skipper Samir Suhag and Gaston Urturi are top ranked plus five handicap players.

Basheer Ali, Manupal Godara, Udai Kalaan(all +4 handicap), Mathias Logioco(Argentina) and Hamza Ali(+2 handicaps) will be other popular faces, Mr Rahi said.

Samir who had captained India in two World Cups, is the most experienced player in pivot(3) or back position while Hamza Ali is the youngest player in India who had taken extensive training in Argentina to sharpen his capabilities.

Angad, who had led the country in several wins during the past five years, is a tall player with a fantastic reach and very quick and sharp reflexes.

Manupal Godara will be another most experienced and favourite player in the tourney and is rated as a consistent player and fantastic horseman who has been exhibiting great form in the current season.
