Statewide campaign against organised crime
Bhopal, Jan 18 (UNI) As a part of a statewide campaign to deal with organised crime, Madhya Pradesh Police have taken action against 87 persons under the National Security Act besides issuing externment orders to 249 criminals in December 2007.
Cases were registered against these accused before the District Magistrate. Concerned District Magistrates had issued final order and issued jail warrant in 32 cases.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had given directions to take action against anti-social elements engaged in organised crime. The campaign has been launched in this view.
A spokesperson from the state police headquarters said, strict action was taken against criminals engaged in beating and extortion, liquor mafia and other accused involved in loot and illegal trade of weapons as a part of this campaign.
Besides, action had been initiated against 809 people under the CrPC.
The state police headquarters had issued directions to the Inspector General of Police, the Deputy Inspector General of Police and the Superintendent of Police continue this campaign in view of its success.
