Mumbai, Jan 18 (UNI) Income Tax authorities have seized Rs two crore in cash, besides jewellery worth Rs three crore, in the raids, which are being conducted at 30 premises of six professional doctors and an alleged ''matka'' don since yesterday.
''This is primary assessment and it could go higher once the dozen-odd seized lockers are opened on Monday,'' a senior IT official said today, adding that the operation was still underway and could go on even till tomorrow.
In addition, some incriminating documents have also been seized during these raids, which are still being examined and point to large-scale evasion, the official added.
''The doctors whose offices and residence have been raided include Shailendra Singh, Viral Desai, S Kapadia and Uday Tanmakar, besides immigration consultant Asghar Ali and 'matka' don Prakash Savla '', the official said.
