Sagar, MP, Jan 18 (UNI) A parent set himself afire after his demand for a school building was ignored in BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh.
Shiv Prasad Ahirwar, President of the Parent-Teacher Association of the government school at the city's Bhagwanganj area, immolated himself on January 7 and later died in a Bhopal hospital.
Dejected over the rejection of his repeated demand for a school building, Ahirwar doused himself with kerosene and set himself afire in front of BJP MP Virendra Kumar at the latter's 'Janata Durbar' at the Collectorate premises here.
Another parent, a woman, has now threatened to commit self-immolation for the same cause.
Mrs Suman Gaur, President of the Girls High School Parents-Teachers Association at Shahpur in Sagar district, has threatened to commit suicide on January 30, if her demand for the school building was not conceded.
Alarmed over the death of Ahirwar, the district administration of Sagar has decided to take preventive measures.
Sagar Collector Hiralal Trivedi has issued directives to book Mrs Gaur for attempting to commit suicide and to register criminal cases against her supporters.
Mr Trivedi also directed to register case against Parsoti Ahirwar, who attempted to commit suicide by trying to climb on an electric pole on January 14 to protest Shiv Prasad's death.
