Medha in Kerala to back up 'land struggle'
Pathanamthitta, Jan 18 (UNI) Narmada Bachao Andolan leader Medha Patkar today expressed solidarity with the Sadhujana Vimochana Samyukta Samara Samithi, fighting for the landless at the Chengara estate at Konni, near here.
After visiting the people, who had encroached upon the estate land as part of their agitation, the social activist said 'Nandigram model' of protests would be launched in the area for getting the ''due rights.'' As part of it, people from Nandigram would march to Chengara on February 26 to express solidarity with the agitators.
''The government always maintains a soft corner towards the activities of the 'powerful' estate owners. It neglects the landless poor. People have to rise up against such things,'' she exhorted.
The fragmented struggles across the contry should be coordinated to make them 'vigorous,' she added.
