Man gets 10 years RI for unnatural offence
Mumbai, Jan 18 (UNI) A local court sentenced a 35-year-old man to serve 10 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) for committing an heinous offence of unnatural intercourse with a ten months-old child at Deonar, an eastern suburb, in 2005.
Pronouncing the judgment yesterday, Additional Sessions Court Judge Swapna Joshi found Ramkisan Harijan guilty of the act under section 377 (Unnatural Offence) of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Judge Joshi observed that the accused would have to suffer 10 years RI and pay a fine of Rs 5,000 for the crime, in default, he would have to undergo further RI of six months.
Mother of the victim, in her deposition, said on the fateful day in 2005, the accused had come to her house and took the victim from her custody under the pretext of playing with her.
When the accused and the girl did not return for a long time, she went in search of them. After some time, she heard the cries of her daughter and rushed there. She saw the accused committing the crime.
But before she could reach the spot, he ran away. Thereafter, the mother took the victim to Deonar police station and registered a case against him. Later, he was arrested by the police.
