Kalam to launch 'Arogya Chetana' tomorrow
Bangalore, Jan 18 (UNI) Former President A P J Abdul Kalam will launch 'Arogya Chetana', a project of voluntary organisation Adamya Chetana, to cover hospitalisation of children.
'Arogya Chetana', the first of its kind in the country, was launched in partnership with the New India Assurance Company Ltd, according to a release here today.
This special insurance policy was a component of Adamya Chetana's holistic approach to the development of children through 'Anna' (food), 'Akshara' (education) and 'Arogya' (health).
The policy covered hospitalisation costs up to Rs 10,000 per child per year. A fund of Rs ten lakh would be set aside by the New India Assurance Company Ltd for covering expenses for major illnesses or surgeries.
Adamya Chetana was facilitating insurance cover for 10,000 under-privileged children at a cost of Rs 35 per child per year.
Premium contributions would be made by donors, school managements and parents.
A team of doctors would conduct check-ups for children at schools and simple ailments would be treated on the spot and major ones would be referred to partner hospitals or doctors.
