Improvement in academic results of Delhi Govt schools: CM
New Delhi, Jan 18 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today said constant efforts on the part of Delhi Government towards improving quality and standard of education in Government schools had led to substantial improvement in the academic results of these schools.
Speaking at the annual function of the Rajkiya Pratibha Vikas Vidyalaya No-1 Ludlow Castle, Raj Niwas Marg, the Chief Minister reiterated that the aim of the Government was to bring Delhi Government schools at par with the best public schools in the Capital and steps like establishment of more Vidyalaya Kalyan Samitis and introduction of CALToonz in the curricula were fast providing an opportunity for improvement of standards in such schools.
Ms Dikshit announced that more Pratibha Vikas Vidyalayas would be set up in the Capital-city this year.
She also stressed the need for providing moral education to children in schools apart from the regular textual education.
Ms Dikshit said that looking at the needs of the society, the Department of Education has identified new curricular areas like Computer Education, YUVA. Education department has introduced continuous and comprehensive evaluation programme (CCEP) in its schools where the students are given tests and evaluated on a regular basis. The mental maths project helps student to overcome their handicap in maths.
The Chief Minister also distributed prizes to meritorious students on this occasion.
