"I and my party 'untouchable', but people will decide: Deve Gowda
Kolar Gold Fields, Karnataka, Jan 18 (UNI) "I am an 'untouchable man and my party is untouchable' nobody will come to me. But the people of Karnataka will decide as to who is untouchable and who is touchable", former Prime Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) National President H D Deve Gowda said today.
Talking to newsmen here, he said that he has been touring the State with a view to prepare a congenial atmosphere for his son and former Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy to address election rallies.
Mr Gowda said that the confusion created by some of the leaders over the party's future following withdrawal of support to BJP has been overcome because of the efforts by the party leaders.
Claiming that the good work done by Mr Kumaraswamy during his tenure as Chief Minister has been generally appreciated by the people of the State, Mr Gowda expressed the confidence that his party would form the Government on its own after the Assembly elections.
Stating that he would not intervene in the National politics till the Assembly elections are over, Mr Gowda said his first priority is to 'repair' his house(State).
When asked about the third front, the former Prime Minister the third front would definitely be formed, but only after the General Elections which is 'far away'.
When asked about whether the delimitation of constituencies will come into force before the Assembly elections, Mr Gowda said that the matter is upto the Government and the Election Commission.
"However My party is prepared to face the elections whether delimitation takes place or not", he added.
