HC issues contempt notice to Gujjar leaders
Jaipur, Jan 18 (UNI) Rajasthan High court today issued contempt of court notices against Gujjar leaders.
Justice Manish Bhandari, acting on a petition moved by the government on contempt of court, issued notices to 15 Gujjar leaders including Col Kirori Singh Bainsla, rebel BJP MLAs Prahlad Gunjal, Attar Singh Badana and 12 other Gujjar leaders, over their threat of proposed seige of Jaipur and blockade of Jaipur-Ajmer National highway on January 21.
The High court asked them to respond to the notices within two weeks.
The state government, in its petition, pointed out that the Gujjar leaders have been asked to give an undertaking by the High court on harassment of common people with their agitations, on a petition moved by one Lakhan Singh on September 10, 2007, and the Gujjars' threat of seige and traffic blockade are the violation of the court's ruling.
