Edu Deptt distributes 438 bicycles to SC girl students
Chandigarh, Jan 18 (UNI) The Haryana Education Department has distributed 438 bicycles to the girl students belonging to scheduled caste families, who are studying in class ninth to 12th in Sirsa district of the state.
The District Education Department has received a sum of Rs 23.54 lakh to distribute the bicycles.
Stating this here today, an official spokesman said a sum of Rs 2000 had been allocated for each girl student under the scheme to give bicycles to the girl students belonging to scheduled caste families, In all, 1187 girl students of Sirsa district would be benefited under this scheme which was launched to encourage the girl students to continue their studies.
He said that to give bicycles to the girl students studying in 10+1, District Administration, Sirsa had also spent a sum of Rs 9.40 lakh.
The funds had been made available under the National Integrated Development Scheme and Red Cross Society for giving bicycles to the girls belonging to scheduled caste families and also to those girls of general category who had got rank 7.5 or above and girl students of families living below poverty line, who had secured rank 6 or above.
As many as 555 girls had been benefited under this scheme.
