Case against 'Return of Hanuman'
Bhopal, Jan 18 (UNI) A local court today recorded five witnesses' statements in a case regarding the animation film 'Return of Hanuman' allegedly hurting Hindu sentiments by poking fun of the deity.
Judicial Magistrate Pradeep Soni heard the petition submitted by Mr Prakash Kumar. January 23 was set as the next date for hearing.
The plea was admitted on January 10. ''The court was urged to register a case against eight people including Central Board of Film Censors Chairperson Sharmila Tagore, the film's script writer, producer and director under the Indian Penal Code's sections 153, 295, 295(a) and 298,'' said Petitioner's Counsel Rajkumar Pande.
The plea alleged that Hanuman's character, as depicted in the movie, was not in consonance with the deity's description in religious texts.
